Dear Vintage Gunners and other Double Gun Enthusiasts,

After months of trying to get a clear picture of what it would take to get this year’s Vintage Gunners Cup off the ground and meet all the safety requirements, the Board and Hausmann’s Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays have decided to cancel this year’s event.

Pennsylvania’s current restrictions by county continue to bounce back and forth between green and yellow, limiting attendance at events from 250 to 50 people. At last year’s event, we had nearly 400 people attend. Pennsylvania has extensive requirements for events including sanitation, social distancing, keeping a log of everyone for contact tracing, etc., that would need to be met. This is feasible but if someone were to become ill, there are lingering questions on whether we would be covered by our insurance provider. New York State, where many stay and eat, has implemented restrictions on travel and 14-day quarantine requirements from many other states. These continue to change. Occupancy in hotels and restaurants is limited and could also create challenges. Hence, the Board and Hausmann’s has made the decision to cancel. It is disappointing situation for all of us.

We will start planning next year’s event immediately, for September 15-18, 2021. Our goal for next year’s event is to provide an event truly worthy of being called The Vintage Gunners Annual World Side X Side and Rifle Championship. We are fully intent on providing an event that all our members can be proud of and a celebration of our shooting heritage. We hope that our exhibitors and shooting participants will join us next year. 

At next year’s Vintage Gunner Cup, I look forward to shaking hands with old friends, enjoying the comradery of standing beside fellow gun enthusiasts while inspecting my next potential purchase and not having to figure out who is behind the mask. Again, the 2021 Vintage Gunners Cup will be September 15-18, 2021.

The 22nd Annual Vintage Gunners Cup World Side-by-Side Championship and Exhibition will be held at Hausmann's Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays, September 16-19, 2020, in Friendsville, Pennsylvania.

Following its grand tradition of hosting one of the finest sporting arms exhibitions, tents will be set up to house the booths in which gun dealers and related vendors will display their merchandise.

The following vendors are planning to attend: Robin Hollow Outfitters, Stephen Cobb Quality Guns, Fire Tower Doubles, Custom Stocks and Steel, Lars Jacob Wing Shooting, Macnab Fine Shotguns. This list will be updated as we get closer to the event date.

Wednesday, September 16th, Special Charity Event

The Vintage Gunners and the Anthony J. Rinaldi Jr. Foundation for Children with Cancer are teaming up to hold a special event to raise money to send children with cancer to “Camp Can-Do.”  The special event, a pump gun challenge, will have several pump gun competitions plus shooting open to O/U shotguns and semi- autos for those who would like to try out the course. All proceeds from shooting on Wednesday will go to this deserving cause.

Ladies High Tea

A team of ladies are planning for the upcoming Ladies Vintage Tea to be held Friday, September 18 at 2:00 pm. This is a free event for all Lady Vintage Gunners, Vintage Gunner wives and lady vendors. The women are planning to have a nice selection of goodies and are planning for a pleasant afternoon of talk and sampling.

It would be very helpful to get an approximate count to assure we have enough of everything to accommodate the attendees. We request that you email Tom Snyder tsnyder610@aol.com with an RSVP.

Although not required, many of the ladies are planning to dress for the occasion in Edwardian style clothing and or hats. Thrift and vintage clothing stores, as well as a number of websites often have some fun items. We look forward to seeing you all at what promises to be a fun event!
