2008

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Welcome to the 12th Annual World Side-by-Side Championships and Exhibition!

These festivities will take place at the Pintail Point Shooting Club in Queenstown, MD on 25-28 September 2008.  We sincerely hope you can join us.

There are a few changes this year that may have an effect on you and your participation.  The most significant being that most of the Side Event courses will be open on Thursday as well as on Friday and Saturday.  More opportunity to shoot more guns...  On Thursday you will be squadded, since, at this time, we do not know the extent of participation on that day.  On each of these days, shooting should be completed by 5 PM.

The Fox Gun Collectors have a concurrent in which trophies and memberships will be given as prizes in the American Classics Event for people shooting Fox guns.  Stop by their booth for all the pertinent information.

This year, as last, SYC Sporting Adventures will be providing a dove hunt drawn from all those participating in the 20 Bore Event and Hlathini Safaris will again be donating a Cape buffalo hunt to be drawn from the rifle shooters.

This year B&P ammunition will be supplying 2 boxes of 28ga shells for that side event.

Another slight change will be the European start for Sunday’s Main Event.  That is, you must be on the course by 11 AM and finish no later than 2:30 PM.

All-in-all there have been some wonderful additions to the already superlative Vintage Cup, World Side-by-Side Championships.  Again we sincerely hope you can join us for the camaraderie, fine friends, great guns and friendly competition that have been the hallmark of the Vintage Cup.

Remember, “In the spirit…”

Hammers Back,

Ray Poudrier

President, Order of Edwardian Gunners

The Stopping Rifle Championship is shot offhand, with open sights and full use of rifle required.  It will consist of a standing elephant at about 40 yds.; a crossing rhino at about 30 yds.; Pop-Up lions and an in-your-face buffalo.  There will also be a timed event with 6 shots at as many targets.

NOTA BENE:  There will be a chronograph and scale at the range.  All rifle and ammunition combos are subject to verification as to their authority.  Stopping rifle competitors to have available four extra rounds of ammunition.

The Stalking Rifle will be similar except that the targets will be of rather benign

critters and the distances a bit greater.  (Fear not, no attacking tommys.)

So as not to dominate, single shot Stalking Rifles will compete for the Alex Henry Cup

Shooting to take place over two days.  16 shots/day for a total of 32 shots for the match.  There will be enough time to shoot both matches, if you wish.  If time permits both may be shot on same day.
